The Big Picture

Scientists, engineers and other movers and shakers are meeting this week to discuss ways of protecting the Louisiana coast from future catastrophic storms. Only this time they're thinking big.

The meeting brought together levee builders and wetlands scientists in an unusual melding of scientific fields that were largely viewed as separate before Katrina.
The forum is being held at the LSU Wetland Biogeochemistry Institute.
