More Gut(ter) Politics

An update to an earlier post regarding the deadline for gutting homes.

A week after the New Orleans City Council unanimously approved a law requiring homeowners to gut, clean and board up their flooded houses by the first anniversary of Hurricane Katrina or risk having the city seize and demolish them, a majority of council members appeared to back off the measure Saturday, saying the Aug. 29 deadline may be too soon and in any event should be flexible.
